The Chinese company Xiaomi seems to be in a mood of launching brilliant devices one of the other, and the latest one to enter their stable is the Xiaomi Redmi 3. The device is the successor to the ultra popular Redmi 2, which was launched about a year ago. This time, the company has brought certain concrete changes that are ought to make the device a lot better in performance and look a lot more premium.
Instead of plastic body in previous generation devices, the all new Xiaomi Redmi 3 sports a full metal uni-body design that is made out of magnesium alloy. On the back, the device features a unique diamond shaped pattern with 4166 stars arranged in it. They are visible only when light hits the surface at a certain angle.
The display size has been bumped up to 5 inches and the resolution remains to be the same at 1280 x 720. The device runs on Android Lollipop with the latest version of MIUI 7 on top of it. And the company has done a commendable job by including a battery pack of 4100 mAh in the device, which should be enough to last for a full day, or even two, on heavy usage.
To power the device, an octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 616 processor runs under the hood. The mid-range processor supports great performance level, and the Adreno 405 GPU helps it in the gaming department. For quick multitasking, the Xiaomi Redmi 3 has a RAM of 2 GB, and an internal storage of 16 GB, which is further expandable up to 128 GB.
It is a dual SIM device, but here is a catch. It supports a hybrid card slot, which means that the second slot can be used for another SIM card or for a microSD card. So you have to compromise on either of the two. However, the device supports 4G LTE connectivity, beside the usual set of Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, etc.
In terms of camera, the Redmi 3 has a 13 MP camera on the back with an LED flash and f/2.0 aperture. The camera supports PDAF technology for quick autofocus, and is capable of recording 1080p Full HD videos.
