Vivo X6S and X6S Plus Hands On Review

Vivo is now a familiar brand in the smartphone space, not only in China, but also in India. Like any other modern Chinese smartphone, Vivo phones are stuffed with features and are offered at very competitive pricing, making them quite popular in the country that is very price sensitive. Expanding their stable, Vivo announced two new smartphones in China- Vivo X6S and X6S Plus.vivo x6s

Both the devices have a brilliant AMOLED display with 2.5D glass, which makes the device feel premium when held. The design of the devices is also good, and the metal body also adds to the premium touch. They also feature a fingerprint scanner on the back, right below the display, and it is very fast and responsive.

The Vivo X6S and X6S Plus are flagship devices for the company, and still they chose to include a Snapdragon 652 processor. The processor is no doubt a really good one, but its performance is not close to the mighty Snapdragon 820. You’ll be able to feel the difference the moment you switch to a heavy app or a high end game. Day to day tasks are quite fluid with their 4 GB of RAM capacity.

Another thing that bothers me a bit is its operating system. The devices come loaded with Funtouch OS that is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. At a time when we have started to receive details about the 2017 version of Android, Vivo being stuck with a 2-year old OS makes no sense. The only option that remains for them is to push an update at least to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in the least possible time.

They have a set of 13 MP and 8 MP cameras, which come with pretty general specifications and there is nothing to wow about. The cameras should produce good daylight pics, and if Vivo managed to do some good, they will be able to click good shots in the night as well. The smaller variant of the smartphone features a 2400 mAh battery, and the larger variant comes with a 3000 mAh battery.

All in all, they both are just mid range devices, and aren’t flagships from any angle. There is nothing to brag about, but the smartphones offer everything you might need as a daily driver.vivo x6s plus
