Motorola has been doing really good in the smartphone industry, with its smartphone line-up in almost every price bracket. Recently the company launched its flagship device- Moto X Force. The device has a screen, that the company claims, will not shatter for up to 4 years. We will check how valid their claim actually is.
Design & Display
If you have been following the Motorola smartphone line-up, then you’ll be able to identify this device immediately. The Moto X Force is quite similar to the Moto X Style and Moto Turbo. The front of the device is just like a typical Motorola device, and the back of the device has a ballistic nylon finish. The frame of the device is made out of metal and it feels very sturdy with great build quality.
The device has been marketed for its shatterproof display, and is touted to be very durable. The company has given a 5.4-inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440, and is quite vibrant with accurate colour reproduction. The device has been marketed for its shatterproof display, and is touted to be very durable. And the company’s claim is true by all means. The display on this device will NOT shatter even if you manage to through it from a height of several hundred feet. Yes, several hundred feet!
Coming at a hefty price tag, we have to expect a top notch performance level, and the device indeed delivers the same. It comes with Snapdragon 810 processor and has a RAM capacity of 3 GB. The device comes with two internal storage options — 32 GB and 64 GB, and it can be expanded up to 2 TB via microSD card. With the combination of top of the line processor and large RAM capacity, the Moto X Force performs just the best.
Like almost every Moto device, this one to comes with near-stock Android OS, and this one comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. Motorola has included a handful of its own app, that add to the overall OS experience. It will surely be upgraded to the latest version of Android, Marshmallow.
In terms of connectivity, Moto X Force comes with single SIM card slot, and it supports 4G connectivity. The call quality and network reception were superb, and the device was able to hold the Wi-Fi connection pretty well and we didn’t face any issue with it. One thing we missed was the fingerprint scanner, especially considering the price of the device.
The Moto X Force houses a 21 MP camera unit on the back with dual LED flash, and a 5 MP camera on the front, that too is accompanied by a single LED flash. The camera app is a bit too simple, and you won’t be able to customise your shot much, and would feel limited restricted if you’re accustomed to more developed camera apps. Having said that, the camera clicks excellent shots with well-balanced colour and detail levels. The camera performance is consistent and brilliant in all the lighting conditions. The video quality and the front facing camera are equally good.
The device comes with a non-removable battery pack with a capacity of 3760 mAh, and also has support for fast charging. The device comes bundled with 25W charger that ensures the battery goes from 0 to 100 percent within an hour. Besides the fast charging capabilities, the battery life is also quite amazing, and the device will last for a full day with heavy usage.
