Hands On Review: Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge

So, it’s finally here! The mighty Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge have today been launched in India, just a few days after its global launch. Both the devices are more of an incremental upgrade, than being a complete new device, but are really a worthy upgrade.Samsung Galaxy S7

First of all, both the devices look strikingly similar to their predecessor, but Samsung has made various subtle changes that improve the handling of the devices. They have a slightly curved back, which helps it fit into your hands quite easily, and also provide better grip. The camera bump, which was quite prominent in the Galaxy S6, has now been reduced, and it now sits almost flush with the back glass.

The things on the front remain mostly unchanged, but other prominent changes lie on the inside. The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge now feature a microSD card slot, that can also be used as a SIM card slot. Moreover, the new devices are now water resistant, unlike Galaxy S6, and also sport a bigger battery of 3000 mAh in Galaxy S7, and 3600 mAh in Galaxy S7 edge.

Samsung has also worked on the camera department, and have made many huge changes. Most noticeable of them all is the camera resolution, which has been brought down from 16 MP to 12 MP, while increasing the individual pixel size on the camera sensor. The camera unit on the back supports OIS, f/1.7 aperture, and really quick autofocus.

Both the devices have been launched in India. while the Samsung Galaxy S7 has been priced at Rs. 48,900, and the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge has been priced at Rs. 56,900. Both the devices are up for pre-order and will ship starting March 18th in Black Onyx, Gold Platinum, White Pearl and Silver Titanium colour options. All the pre-orders will come with a Gear VR headset, and double voice and data offer for 6 months on Vodafone RED network. You can pre-order the devices from here.
